ROLE OVERVIEW

 

The Access Transport Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, configuration, and operational support of the Access Transport Network. The role covers IP/MPLS, DWDM, and Microwave transport domains, ensuring reliable, scalable, and high-performance connectivity for mobile and fixed services.

The engineer contributes to network capacity planning, topology design, and service integration, while ensuring compliance with operational standards and best practices. The position requires technical expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to troubleshoot multi-layer issues across transport technologies.

The role operates in close coordination with the NOC, Field Services, RAN, and Implementation teams, as well as with external vendors, with accountability for supporting network expansion, improving resilience, and minimizing service impact.

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Plan, design, configure, and troubleshoot Access Transport Network infrastructure across IP/MPLS, DWDM, and Microwave domains.
  • Plan and execute daily technical activities related to service provisioning, network changes, software upgrades, incident handling, and customer complaint resolution.
  • Participate in capacity planning, traffic analysis, and performance optimization based on KPIs and utilization trends.
  • Work in coordination with vendors and subcontractors on equipment integration, testing, acceptance, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including topology, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives, scripting, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Take responsibility to follow relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Carry out all other tasks, assigned by the Line Manager and in accordance with the employee’s qualification and responsibilities.
  • Strictly follow safety and health instructions.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • University degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related Engineering field.
  • General understanding of telecommunications and mobile network technologies.
  • Hands-on experience in transport network environments (IP/MPLS, DWDM, Microwave).
  • Good understanding of IP/MPLS technologies, including L2/L3 VPNs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, IS-IS, BGP), and QoS.
  • Knowledge of DWDM systems, optical transmission principles, and capacity management.
  • Relevant courses and certifications in telecommunications are considered an advantage.
  • Experience using AI-based tools for operational efficiency is a plus;
  • Familiarity with Linux environments, or task automation is an advantage;.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, manage priorities, and respond effectively to incidents under time pressure.
  • Strong team collaboration skills with a proactive and responsible approach to work.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
