DevOps Manager
Whether you’re just starting out or bringing years of experience, at Yettel we believe the right role isn’t just about responsibilities — it’s about growth, impact, and being part of something meaningful.
Take a look — this might be the opportunity you've been waiting for!
The impact you’ll make:
As DevOps Manager your mission is to give every Yettel development team a paved road from commit to production in hours, not weeks: secure, observable and reproducible by default. You’ll own our platform across on-prem private cloud and AWS, replace manual tickets with self-service, and grow the team behind it. In year one, you’ll spend about half your time hands-on alongside your engineers.
What you’ll do:
- Define the target architecture and roadmap of our hybrid platform, and run it as a product with development teams as your customers.
- Build reusable Terraform modules and golden paths, so a team can launch a new service with pipeline, environments and monitoring in under a day. Everything lives as code, managed through GitOps.
- Operate production Kubernetes on-prem and on EKS (upgrades, capacity, networking, RBAC, backup/restore), plus the AWS multi-account landing zone.
- Standardise CI/CD across Java, Go, C++ and Python stacks with shared templates, quality gates, an artefact registry and supply chain checks (signed images, SBOMs, vulnerability scanning).
- Deliver logs, metrics and traces as a service, define SLOs with development teams, and set up platform on-call together with Incident Management.
- Apply security by design across all environments (least privilege, secrets management, network policies, hardened base images), embed security checks in pipelines together with Information Security, and keep the platform audit-ready for our telecom regulatory obligations (e.g. NIS2, ISO 27001).
- Hire, coach and grow your team, develop a technical lead, and set clear guidelines for safe, everyday use of AI.
We expect from you:
- Platform engineering: You’ve built a DevOps platform from scratch or led a major re-platforming, and you can explain the decisions, the trade-offs and what you’d do differently.
- People leadership: You can hire, onboard and coach engineers through individual goals, regular 1:1s and clear growth paths. You can set engineering standards (code review, documentation, on-call) so knowledge never sits with one person, and you can describe how one of your engineers grew under your leadership.
- Kubernetes operations: You can run production clusters on-prem and on EKS. That includes upgrades, incident handling at night, and fixing networking, storage and scaling issues yourself.
- Infrastructure as Code: You can design Terraform module structures and state strategy that several teams use, not just single configurations.
- CI/CD & GitOps: You can design shared pipelines and run an artefact registry for multiple development teams (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or Jenkins; Argo CD or Flux).
- Cloud: You can operate AWS in a multi-account setup and connect it with on-premise infrastructure in a hybrid model.
- Observability: You can build or improve a logs, metrics and traces stack (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK) and use it to cut incident resolution time.
- Security: You can apply least privilege, secrets management, network segmentation and vulnerability management in practice, inside pipelines.
- Communication: You can explain a technical decision clearly to developers, managers and auditors.
- AI: You use AI tools daily in your engineering work and can show concrete examples.
- Languages: Fluent English
