We are seeking an experienced DBA Lead to manage a small local responsible for supporting and optimizing our database environment. This role combines leadership and hands-on database administration expertise. You will oversee operations for Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL on-premises, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across our platforms.

As part of a software organization serving telecommunication services clients, you will play a critical role in maintaining compliance, scalability, security and reliability of our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, proven leadership experience, and a passion for continuous improvement.

You will have the following responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Team Management

• You lead and mentor a small local team of database administrators, fostering collaboration and supporting professional growth, which helps build a strong and effective team.
• By coordinating workload distribution, setting priorities, and ensuring timely delivery of database-related tasks, you make sure the team’s efforts directly contribute to business continuity and project success.
• Overseeing the administration of SQL and NoSQL database platforms (including MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and REDIS), you ensure high availability and performance, which is essential for reliable business operations.
• You will manage backup and recovery processes, and plan for disaster recovery to protect company data.
• Planning and executing database migration projects is also part of your responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Excellence

• You define and enforce best practices for database architecture, performance, and scalability across teams.
• Evaluating and implementing new database technologies and tools to improve efficiency is expected.
• As a point of escalation for complex database issues, you provide expert guidance and support.

You are the ideal candidate for our team if you have/are:

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator and Team Lead in local or global environment.
• Strong expertise in MySQL and MS SQL Server, including clustering and Always On.
• Hands-on experience with database development, including schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Solid understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning strategies.

Is an advantage if you are:

• Familiar with CI/CD practices and integrating database changes into automated pipelines
• Knowledgeable about additional database technologies (such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL)
• Exposed to cloud-native architectures, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code
• Experienced in using Dynatrace for database monitoring
