Cloud Observability Engineer

They’ll work closely with DevOps, security, and application teams on designing and implementing our cloud-native observability strategy.

 

The impact you’ll make:

You will be at the heart of our cloud journey, responsible for implementing the observability framework that ensures our Kubernetes platforms and cloud-native services are reliable, performant, and transparent. Your work will provide critical visibility into our systems, enabling teams to build and operate with confidence.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Implement a cloud-native observability platform for multi-cluster Kubernetes environments.
  • Integrate observability components using tools such as Grafana, Loki, Tempo, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Collaborate with platform and application teams to define SLOs, SLIs, dashboards, and alerts.
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence through root-cause analysis and proactive visibility.
  • Support infrastructure as code and GitOps practices using Terraform and Helm.
  • Ensure observability is embedded in the SDLC in close collaboration with DevOps, security, and engineering teams.
  • Document observability operational procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for performance across cloud environments.
  • Stay informed on trends and introduce new observability best practices when relevant.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Kubernetes Experience: You have proven experience operating and scaling Kubernetes environments, understanding its complexities and how to maintain its health.
  • Grafana & OpenTelemetry Experience: You're hands-on and proficient with the Grafana stack (Loki, Tempo, Mimir) and the OpenTelemetry standard, using them to build comprehensive monitoring solutions.
  • Good Observability Knowledge: Your expertise covers the pillars of observability—metrics, logs, and traces—and you know how to design effective alerting strategies that matter.
  • Clear Communication: You can translate complex technical architectures into clear documentation and diagrams that everyone can understand.
  • Collaborative Mindset: You thrive in a team setting, working effectively with different engineering groups in a structured enterprise environment.

Good to have:

  • Cloud Versatility: You are comfortable working in multi-cloud or hybrid environments, preferably with AWS or GCP, and understand their unique challenges.
  • Infrastructure as Code Knowledge: You are skilled in using tools like Terraform and Helm, and you embrace GitOps as a core practice for managing infrastructure.
  • A Focus on Reliability:You are passionate about building systems that are not just functional but also stable, scalable, and easy to debug.
