Reporting to the Procurement Director, the purpose of the role is to lead strategic, high profile, complex procurement tenders and direct negotiations with current and prospect suppliers. Working as a part of the Procurement Team, the Strategic Procurement Manager will be responsible for the engagement of the business in strategic projects, technology and indirect category procurement, day to day operational supplier engagement and management. The Strategic Procurement Manager will become a trusted advisor to the business on all procurement/commercial matters through delivery of best value for money solutions and achievement of project goals.

 

You will have the following responsibilities:

  •  Lead high profile/high impact/strategic procurement tenders in a variety of procurement categories.
  • End to end responsibility for all assigned sourcing activities, including structuring business demands into commercially quotable concepts, tender documentation preparation, bid management and negotiations, vendor selection, decision administration, contract drafting and subsequent contract management.
  • Management of stakeholders in a variety of business domains and levels of hierarchy, including the continuous alignment with Group Procurement and the procurement experts of the foreign sister companies.
  • Optimise delivery of value in relation to third party spend, ensuring process and rationale for the selection of suppliers is transparent, auditable and beyond reproach.
  • Ensure mitigation and management of risks arising from procurement process activity (and internal buying behaviours) thus protecting the business from reputational damage, financial penalties, loss of service.
  • Accurate and complete documentation of procurement activities, including the documents necessary for a well-grounded sourcing decision, in compliance with all internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective vendor relationship management with a focus on building strategic partnerships.
  • Effective demand management, including a solid understanding of the drivers of the third party spend.
  • Leading/participating in sourcing activities initiated by Group Procurement.
  • Be seen as a 'Trusted Advisor' to Procurement’s business customers

 

You are the ideal candidate for our team if you have / are:

  •  Educated to a university degree level in a business discipline.
  • Fluent English both written and spoken.
  • Ability to act autonomously with a high degree of self-initiative, self-motivation and proactivity.
  • Autonomous problem resolution skills, including the ability to solve unstructured problems by structuring complexity into actionable, practical steps.
  • Sound business acumen and applied commercial and legal knowledge.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience, including an extensive experience as a senior procurement expert in a commercially driven, dynamic environment.
  • Extensive experience in negotiating and drafting complex purchase and service agreements in English.
  • Demonstrable track record of implementing and delivering procurement strategies to deliver commercial benefit.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to find the most appropriate ways in various contexts and situations to influence both internal and external senior stakeholders.
  • Assertive conflict management skills.
  • Good technology aptitude, including the ability to quickly gain a self-confident understanding of IT and network requirements in complex sourcing projects.
  • Ability to effectively manage time pressure and parallel projects and to smoothly adapt to changing priorities.
  • Thorough knowledge of procurement techniques.
  • Good experience of change and project management.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail.
  • Creativity and innovative thinking.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, proficiency at online auction tools and SAP is an advantage
